Virginia Tech Athletes Support the Local Community in Partnership with The Hokie Way and Eastmont Food Pantry

June 20, 2023

Hokies Quarterback William “Pop” Watson joined the Eastmont Community Foundation, in giving back to the local community by helping out at Dale’s Place Food Pantry in Elliston, Virginia.

The Eastmont Community Foundation is a private, non-profit organization whose outreach programs and activities are aimed at improving health, well-being and education in Eastern Montgomery County. The organization currently operates the Meadowbrook Community Center, the Waldron Fitness Center, the Eastmont Thrift Store, and the Old Town Fields athletic complex at Shawsville Middle School.

This summer, Virginia Tech athletes are working to support the Eastmont Community Foundation by providing a helping hand in their weekly food pantry.

Pop Watson was the first Hokie athlete to take part in this event. During his time at Eastmont Food Pantry, Watson had an opportunity to gather groceries for donation, socialize with other volunteers, and meet members of the Montgomery County community.

Hokie athletes are thrilled to be a part of this weekly event and to make an impact outside of their sport this summer.
